Doug and Anna May Jackson

May 2013

Doug was raised in the suburbs of Detroit; therefore, he comes by being car crazy naturally. His first Cadillac was a 1949 slant back coupe he bought for $90.00.

Since that time they have had 17 more Cadillacs of which 11 were bought new. They bought their first Allante’, a 93 in August of 2002 and joined the Allante’ Atlanta Car club the following month. Doug and Anna May have owned three Allante’s, besides the 93 they had a 90 and a 92.  They now own a 2006 XLR which we have had for five years.

Doug majored in chemistry in college and worked in research six years with two years in the US Army sandwiched in between. Bored in the lab he went into chemical sales in 1965 and retired as Sales Manager of Henkel Corp. Surface Technology Division in 1998.

Anna May had her own business as a hair stylist for many years and up to the recent recession was the Head New Home Hostess for Bowen & Bowen home builders.  They have been married for 39 years and have 2 children each by prior marriages.  They enjoy their many friends in the club and Doug said he had the honor of being the Tech Director for 6 years. The Allante’ is truly a unique automobile and a pleasure to drive. You don't see one in every block like some other sports cars.

Doug’s other hobby is model trains done in "O" gauge which is set up in his basement.  Anna May is a voracious reader and in the past knitted about anything you could imagine.

(Editor’s Note: Doug’s knowledge on the Allante’ is impressive. He has solved many problems for members during his tenure as Tech Director. Newer members will have to ask Doug about touring his model train exhibit—it’s fabulous. And Ladies, those of us who have had the privilege of touring Anna May’s closet during one of their hosted tech sessions can attest to her fashion style and beauty.)
