From the Vice President

April 2014

Well as of this writing, the winter weather is still upon us—nice sunny, cool days and then 20’s and 30’s at night. We’re still burning our second cord of wood in our fireplace to ward off the winter chill. BUT, nicer days are coming and so are our Allante’ adventures.

We started 2014 in February with another blast of cold air cancelling our planned Atlanta Zoo visit but we regrouped and headed to the Chili Cook-off with the Peach State CLC group. Art and Brenda Sevelius joined us and enjoyed the gorgeous cars at a Peach State member’s home and showroom before enjoying various tastes of chilies. So our Allante’ day was not affected by the cold weather.

March 2014 was a nice visit to Madison, GA for a tour of the three open homes on the tour. We visited Heritage Hall, a beautiful example of very gracious living in the early 1800s (if you had the money!). The Rogers House was an example of a middle class family living in basically two rooms. The Rose Cottage built in 1891 by Adeline Rose who was born into slavery. She worked as a laundress and lived in her home for 68 years.

We were joined on our Madison and surrounding area tour by Canadian Paul Jordan who had only one week before our cruise to Madison purchased his Polo Green 1993 Allante’. On his trip south, he stopped in NJ at the Cadillac Allante’ Club and had Johnny Monzo check out his new Allante’. After a few adjustments, parts and instructions from Johnny, Paul was on his way to Florida and return to Canada via Madison, GA. We enjoyed sharing specific tips and suggestions on his new Allante’. We also discovered that he was a writer for a car publication in Canada. So we were “interviewed and photographed” for his publication. A nice day for the Allante’ Atlanta Car Club.

April’s Allante’ cruise will be to the Atlanta Motorama show being held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway April 26 and 27. Your Allante’ Atlanta Car Club will have seven Allante’s being shown at the huge, two day event. We’re going to be staying at the Comfort Suites, exit 218 off I-75 South. Come join us for an extravaganza of muscle, performance, exotic, and classic cars. I’m sure the Club will see a trophy or two from the show.

The rest of 2014 has every month busy with either a day cruise, local breakfast or lunch somewhere fun, or overnight cruises to interesting and adventurous places in our Allante’s. So look at your pictorial calendar, our great new website, www.allanteatlanta.org for the schedule of events for the year.

We will be hosting the Florida Allante’ and XLR Club in the Fall for a two-day leaf lookin’ cruise and the Peach State CLC will be joining us for our Christmas Biltmore Estate Cruise. So put those events on your must-do Allante’ events so we can show off the Allante’ Atlanta Car Club. As always, you’ll receive Evites, emails and other reminders of our cruises and/or events. So read about the spring care of your Allante’ from Art Sevelius and clean your sunglasses, throw your sun visors in the Allante’ and dig out your club shirts for Allante’ cruisin’. See y’all soon.
