AACC Scenic Highway Summer Cruise
Hello Members and Friends. We hope everyone had a Happy Independence Day and your celebration of the freedoms we enjoy was wonderful, and spent with your friends and family.
For our last summer cruise, we are going to enjoy Scenic Highway 197 which starts in Clarkesville, GA and ends when it intersects with US 76 at Lake Burton. It's about a 29 mile drive thru Habersham and Rabun counties.
We will meet for breakfast at the Midway Meal House on Highway 9 (Atlanta Highway) which is diagonally across from the Midway Methodist Church. This is a country-style meal house with ample breakfast servings. So hopefully the weather will be nice and we can enjoy a great breakfast on the porch.
If you prefer not to meet for breakfast, you can meet us at the intersection of SR 197/441 in Clarkesville. Just be sure to let Paula know. Or if you are coming from the North, you can meet the club along the trail. Just keep Paula posted where you will be.
After breakfast we will depart around 9:30 / 10:00 am from GA400 to Dahlonega intersecting with SR 60 to 52 and 115 to Cleveland and on to Clarkesville. We will have lunch after we reach Clarkesville area or later, depending on hunger level and restaurants.
After we reach Lake Burton we will intersect with US 76 and Hwy 2 to Clayton, GA and take 23/15/441 to I 985 back to the Atlanta area.
It promises to be a nice ride thru some hills and valleys with some picturesque little towns/villages and (ladies)shops along the way. It should be a fun and relaxing Allante' dayand maybe even just cool enough in the mountains to enjoy a top down day.
